Year 5 - Clay Vessels

Year 5 have been sculpting their own clay vessels, inspired by bronze vessels created by the ancient Chinese Shang Dynasty. Having studied the bronze vessels created by the artists of the Shang dynasty, we designed our own clay creations. Initially, the clay was hard to work with, we had to soften it by kneading and working it until it became softer and smoother - hard work! When we had sculpted the shape of the vessel, we carefully decorated in the style of the original Shang dynasty vessels.
