Year 3 Materials for a Raft

In year 3, we created a scientific enquiry to help us discover which materials had properties which would make them suitable to provide aid for flood victims. We investigated which materials floated and discovered that the upthrust force enables low density materials to float. Although we found lots of materials that floated, we reached a conclusion that the material would need a range of properties if it was to be used to rescue people on a raft if there was a flood.
