We have been learning about Diwali which will be celebrated across the world next week. We listened to the story of Rama and Sita and found out how diva lamps were lit to celebrate their return. We used salt dough to make our own lamps. We have been drawing around our feet, decorating it with glitter and cutting it out as part of our learning. Hindus welcome Lakshmi into their homes by cleaning and decorating. Lakshmi footprints are a symbol of the goddess wealth and prosperity and are a tradition during Diwali. We added our footprints to our Diwali decorations in the home corner. We will continue to learn more about Diwali and finish our lamp after half term.
